2 Reasons Why New Year’s Resolutions Seldom Work - START TODAY!

Your inbox is now (probably) filled with all kinds of advertisements on reduced gym membership fees, nutrition magazines and discounted diet plans to jump start your 2016. And, while we are conditioned to believe that numeric beginnings (in space and time) support our goals, the real power comes directly from what you are actually willing to do today, inclusive of devotion to your Plan A. I do not want to discourage you from goal setting and prepping for your dream wish list of 2016, but ask yourself: How many resolutions or bucket list items have I completed in the previous years? If you’re able to say, “A lot” - then great, you have a tried-and-true formula that works well for you. If not, then keep reading. Here is our list of best Plan A practices to avoid during the New Year resolution race.

3 reasons why New Year’s resolutions seldom work:

We do not complete New Year’s resolutions, because we feel pressured. The problem with January 1 (of said year) dates to begin is that a lot of people feel pressure, because it’s the very beginning of a new era, if you will. And most people believe that, with the beginning of any new space, if we do not start now, then somehow our goals will not have the same opportunity of actually manifesting. Therefore, it’s a rush to begin with a superimposed date that has everything to do with the world around us and less to do with our individual self.

When the soul cries, it’s best to nourish its calling today. Life gives us all kinds of notifications that something must shift and when we are in the space of receiving understandings as such, most times it’s best to not delay beginning. During client consultations, I often hear, “I want to be able to give this my full attention, so I’ll start later OR, I just need to make sure I will have time to begin this process.” Enough already. It will never be a perfect time to begin life work that needs your attention today. I have witnessed some of the most amazing transformations when individuals decide to make the shift in present, as a result of their willingness and need to create a better life.

Overall, if you need to truly shift some things in your life or if you’re not happy with the cards that have been dealt to you create a list of what you would like to change. In action, begin small steps and stick to a schedule. There is no need to set your happiness and needs on a calendar alert system of January 1, 2016. Of course, plan, but the truth is, we do not know what distractions or opposition the future will bring. If something needs to be addressed, there is a reason why it is coming to your attention now. Work with the divine timing of the Universe and begin the steps needed for a better you today. After all, the present moment is all that is promised.
